Strange Terrain
Strange Terrain was the title of a series of site specific installations, over forty short animations and a publication created by Aideen Barry, published by Oonagh Young and MM Art Books and Repro, under the 2014 CHANGING TRACKS commissions curated by Gaynor Seville, Nuria Pascal & Graham Ca,llister in, Mayo Ireland, Northamptonshire in the UK and Catalonia, Spain along the sites of three former railway lines. These historical infrastructures were to undergo massive European Union funding to develop each site as a new civic space for tourism and cultural wellbeing.
CHANGING TRACKS is a contemporary visual and digital art project that was create in 2014 as a series of nine new temporary outdoor artworks by three international artists that respond to former railway lines, their heritage and local environment, and is a recipient of funding from the EU Culture Programme 2007-2013.
Partners to the project include Northamptonshire County Council (UK), Mayo County Council (Ireland) and Consortium Transversal, Cultural Activities Network from Catalonia (Spain).
The commissioned artists were Aideen Barry (IRE), Noah Rose (UK) and Xevi Bayone(CAT). Each artist created 9 works over the 3 countries, Ireland, UK and Catalonia in Spain.
