The work is a call to arms for artists in a time of great uncertainty. Inspired by the role that Bunting played in preventing the Irish Harp and the lilts and airs from disappearing entirely, Barry has used this philosophy to pose a question to the role of artists in the contemporary world if this is the last generation of artists left to live in the world. The film, sound score and moving image work are inspired by the dystopian horror, uncertainty and pandemic. These thematic approaches are interwoven across this entire somatic show and will be activated through a series of parallel programming considering this “Body” as a activation point for performances, screenings, in-conversations, spoke word events and music.
